INNOVATION IN ACTION: PROVIDER INSURANCE CHALLENGES RIVERZEDGE YOUTH TO MAKE VIDEOS, REWARDS WINNERS WITH COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS
Woonsocket, RI. June 14, 2011. Leading the way for other organizations to support positive outcomes for youth, Provider Insurance has come up with a creative and winning strategy for making a difference. Recognizing that thriving communities depend on involved citizens, organizations and corporate partners for support and continued growth, Provider is partnering with RiverzEdge Arts Project teens to support positive futures for all. Provider created a contest where RiverzEdge students produce a music video for their company. Teens made music videos now presented on YouTube, where people can vote for their favorite entry. The music video that receives the most votes on YouTube combined with the decisions of an internal judging team will determine the grand prize winner of a $1,000 scholarship. The winning video will be used for marketing purposes on the Provider website, providing fame and glory both to the young filmmaker and the generous company. The runner-up entry will receive a $500 scholarship and commendation for their efforts.
Executive Director of the RiverzEdge Arts Project, Rebekah Greenwald Speck, comments, "Woonsocket is a city without a lot of positive outlets for youth. We struggle with high teen pregnancy and high school drop-out rates, and pervasive poverty. RiverzEdge works to combat a myriad of problems and issues in the lives of our youth and it’s great to have a dedicated and creative local partner. We are especially proud that our insurance agency cares so much about our kids, and we are grateful to Provider for seeking innovative ways to support our work.”
President/CEO, Bill Darcey said, “It’s so fulfilling to be in a position where we can give back to our clients as well as help our local community. These teens are looking to better themselves and get some real world experience and we are happy that we can help them in a small way.”
The teens music videos will be posted on Provider Insurance’s YouTube channel for the public to vote.
