The Backpack Snack Attack drive was started in 2014 to provide the Segue Institute for Learning school children with a backpack full of non-perishables items. Segue scholars have access to three (3) meals a day while at school, but during vacations such as the long holiday break many don’t enjoy that access, since the school is closed. Therefore the school tries to provide what they can for them, and assist the students and their families during this time. Currently there is an urgent need for donations.
The drive campaign starts in September and ends the week before the holiday break. Donations are received from staff and their families, board members, local business owners, and friends of the school. Donations come in the form of cash, non-perishable food items, board games and a holiday educational packet so that the scholars continue their learning process. Non-perishable items include, but are not limited to: water bottles, fruit snacks, pop tarts, crackers, granola bars, and mac and cheese. The backpacks are also part of the donations received.
We encourage you to donate what you can! Contact Grace Rivera at firstname.lastname@example.org or 401-721-0964. Thank you.
